Digital Electronic Potato PTR 200
The Digital Electronic Potato PTR 200 is a powerful quality control tool which assists in the drive towards high quality potato production. It identifies damage-causing areas in all types of potato handling machinery from the harvester to the grader.
The Electronic Potato has completely changed the approach to damage control and bruising prevention. The Digital Potato’s shock sensors measure and locate sources of potato damage as it passes through machinery.
Shock readings are heard instantly in the operator’s headphones and shown on the receivers screen. The operator watches the Digital Potato and can see the exact source of the shock, and take action to avoid continued losses due to damage.
The data can be recalled or downloaded using the optional PC software.
Hundreds of pack-houses, processors, co-operatives and growers have already benefited from the quality control information that the Digital Potato provides.
Digital electronics, key features such as the PC data download facility and the compact size make the PTR 200 a truly comprehensive and totally practical tool.
The PTR 200 is made in many different shapes of fresh produce including the Digital Apple, Digital Carrot and Digital Egg. There is also a larger Potato shape available made especially for New Zealand production. The PTR 200 is also available as the Digital Apple.

EASI-READ Potato Dry Matter Field Kit
A pocket-sized field kit for dry matter testing. The EASI-READ system for determining dry matter dispenses with the bulky method involving a 45gal drum of water and a displacement potato hydrometer. It is ideal for anyone needing to know dry matter quickly, simply and accurately in the field.
The EASI-READ system tests individual tubers for dry matter. It is calibrated against a range of tubers using the ‘Single Tuber Suspension Method’. When the shown weight is referred to a simple chart, the Easi-Read gives an accurate dry matter content of the sample.
The EASI-READ demonstrates the high dry matter variability that can occur within samples. This is comparable with many Quality Control procedures where individual potatoes, not average bulks, are laboratory tested.
The EASI-READ works by taking a 25ml core plug sample from a pre-cut flat tuber surface. This is then trimmed and weighed to 0.1g resolution on a small, very accurate balance. The resulting weight per ml is converted to percentage dry matter using a specially calibrated chart.
Results from the EASI-READ can be compared with the bulk average method by taking up to ten readings and averaging them. The EASI-READ kit is supplied with a high resolution, high accuracy portable pocket scale. It measures to 0.1g with +/-0.2g accuracy and comes in a strong plastic case with hinged lid.
